Rumors shall swirl no longer.

So it's true, although there's very little info about it on the Apple site: Macs are moving to Intel, and Mac OS X already works on a Pentium 4. God damn. Cognitive dissonance abounds. They couldn't even move to AMD chips?

As long as Mac OS X still works, I don't really care. But gee whiz...

I suppose they could, but Intel probably offered them a better rate.

While I can understand Apple's insistence on proprietary hardware, wouldn't it be neat if they made a MacOS that would run on any x86 system? Hell, I'd put a MacOS partition on my PC, as long as it could read my NTFS data partition...

I keep forgetting that italics don't work in your comments. That first phrase was supposed to be "I suppose they _could_,"

  3. I can see the italics fine in Safari.

I have no doubt that within two months of the MacIntel's release, there will be a hack on the web which allows OS X to run on a generic system. It's inevitable.

That said, it's already known to be possible to put a Windows partition on a MacIntel, although it's unsupported (not to mention utterly blasphemous).
